This program is for addiction professionals who want to enhance their skills to address denial using Denial Management Counseling (DMC) in the treatment of addiction, coexisting personality disorders, and mental health disorders. Through the process of earning credentials as a CDMS, clinicians learn and practice how to deal more effectively with clients exhibiting severe denial and treatment resistance. DMC is a comprehensive clinical system that provides best practices to teach clients to identify and manage the denial patterns they use that prevent them from getting help for their substance use disorder.

- A copy of each of the 3 needed course texts.
- Enrollment in 2 Gorski-CENAPS Home Study courses (with 20 CEs for successful completion).
- Portfolio review by assigned program Instructor.
- Official credential certificate with CDMS
- CDMC credentials active for a 3-year period.
Recertification is required every 3-years. We offer multiple easy ways to re-certify.

Program Requirements Overview
To become a CDMS through the home-base certification program, program participants must complete the two Gorski-CENAPS Home Study courses for denial management that provide the needed education for certification in Denial Management Counseling. Our Home Study courses provide you the opportunity of taking courses at your pace - and provide Continuing Education credit hours (CEs). These are text-based courses. Participants will learn, understand, and be able to explain the philosophy of denial and denial management. Participants will learn how to directly deal with the twelve most common denial patterns used by addicted clients and how to implement a treatment plan for teaching client’s denial self-management training in individual, group, or psychoeducation sessions.
To demonstrate your competency in DMC you must also complete a Competency Certification Portfolio that includes Reaction Papers, Examinations Of Clinical Knowledge, and a Case Study. Before earning your credentials, your Competency Certification Portfolio that includes all of the required program components will be reviewed and must be approved by a Gorski-CENAPS Instructor. Instructors are certified in Denial Management Counseling and have been trained to review and evaluate portfolio. Our team is here to help you achieve success.
