Treatment providers are demanding effective outpatient alternatives to expensive inpatient treatment.  The CENAPS Model of Recovery and Relapse Prevention provides the clinical model necessary to help treatment programs and individual counselors and therapists adapt to the new managed care environment by successfully integrating variable length of stay inpatient programs with ongoing outpatient programs.  The Developmental Model of Recovery (DMR) provides a road map for the recovery process which allows clinicians to evaluate patients and prescribe appropriate treatment based upon the patient's stage of recovery.

The Developmental Model of Recovery consists of six stages of recovery.  Each stage of recovery contains a primary recovery goal, a series of concrete recovery tasks, a list of common warning signs that set the patient up for relapse, and a description of how each stage relates to Twelve Step recovery programs.  The DMR can become the foundation of a comprehensive treatment planning process that meets the needs of managed care providers.

This course provides a practical and no-nonsense approach to developing treatment interventions at each stage of the recovery process that can meet the needs of managed care providers and lower relapse rates.  It is designed to be attended by program managers and clinical staff so that they may work together to effectively implement the new treatment technology necessary to adapt to the new treatment environment.
